What is an LNURL pay code?
An LNURL pay code is a reusable Lightning Network payment link. When someone scans the QR code, their wallet prompts them to send bitcoin over lightning — no invoice needed each time. It's the easiest, and fastests, way to receive Lightning payments on your piggy.
Why use them with Lighting Piggy?
LNURL pay codes are a great way to encourage kids to earn bitcoin rewards for learning, completing chores, and hitting goals. Print out a set of QR codes — one for "Homework Reward", another for "Reading Reward", or "Tidied Bedroom" — and stick them on the fridge, reward chart, or where the action happens. When your child completes a task, simply scan the matching code with your Lightning wallet to zap sats straight to their piggy. It makes saving tangible, fun, and teaches kids that money is something you earn.
How to create LNURL pay links
LNURL pay links are created using the LNURLp (p for Pay) extension in LNbits — if you have chosen it as your wallet and payment processing system.
- Open your LNbits dashboard and enable the LNURLp extension
- Create a new pay link — give it a name (e.g. "Homework Reward") and set an amount range
- Copy the LNURL string from the created pay link
- Paste it into the generator below to create a branded QR code
